Within healthcare, external hiring is often seen as a necessary evil. And yet a lot of money is spent on it – but is that money well spent? Accountants are frequently calling for a professional hiring process that adequately manages risks and spends funds effectively. The following factors are defining in this:

• The perception is that too much is being spent on external hiring.
• Suppliers of specialist medical staff occupy a dominant position.
• High requirements for staff dossiers through BIG registration, HKZ certification and JCI.
• Working directly with freelancers is considered risky and an administrative burden.
• Hospitals are seeking possibilities to re-write the rules of play.

An online platform has been created together with healthcare purchasing cooperative, Intrakoop, which hosts the entire hiring process for each individual hospital or healthcare institution. It also includes a community for connecting interim professionals to the healthcare institution direct. Participating organisations include UMC Utrecht, Pro Persona, St. Antonius Ziekenhuis, Medisch Spectrum Twente and ’s Heeren Loo.
